.... but from a very early age have always loved History and Geography with
a even greater passion, especially British & Scottish. With a Scottish
(Glasgow) mother and a [basically] first generation Canadian born father
with strong ties to his English heritage, 'round our dinner table there were
nigh on nightly 'heated' debates/re-hashes of the histories of the two
counties. We (6 children) always knew the 'after dinner talk' had ended
when our mother would say something akin to - [shades of a Robbie Burns'
accent] "Y'kin sit onna English rose, but y'canna sit onna Scottish
thistle!" Good thing they were at opposite ends of the big table!!
