I was looking thru my notes to see if I knew who your Frederick was the son
of but I do not see him.
There was another Frederick in Brunswick Co VA a gen before yours named
Frederick who was born 1745 and died 1819 in Brunswick, son of John and Lucy
Abernathy...
In my notes I do not have that he had a son Fred...however any of his
brothers (john, Robert, Charles, Hambert, Buckner, Joshua, or SMith) may
have named their son Frederick in his honor.
You do know the story of the Abernathy migration to MO?
There were several interrelated families of Abernathys living in NC. These
included mainly the descendants of Miles Abernathy and Sarah Ann Jones;
jones Abernathy, Battee Abernathy, other of that clan, and John Abernathy
(my husband's ancestor)...Miles was John's uncle...I know there were other
families also...they decided to remove to the "wild Territory" and left NC
in a big caravan in the 1820's...John Abernathy, my husband's ancestor, died
in 1816 in NC and his wife later went with all her children except my
husband's direct line (Berry Abernathy...he went to TN) and they all settled
in Perry CO and Cape Girardeau Co.
Their group was so large it was called the Abernathy Settlement.
It is noteworthy that these Abernathys settled here only a short number of
years after Daniel Boone visited MO...I had other ancestors in Franklin CO
as early as 1821...so the Abernathys were not far behind in Perry.
The York Chapel Cemetery is full of Abernathys. A lot of them married
Abernathys too so it gets hard to figure them out.
