Sam;
My information is from research that I have done at
the local library and off the net. I have a large
scale map of the area in question. It does provide a
large amount of information, but it has also been
reproduced many times and is getting difficult to
read(I keep giving away my original). The River Nethy
flows north from the Cairngorm Mountains to the River
Spey. As I said previously Abernethy Forest is in
Inverness, specifically Strathspey (the Spey valley).
It surrounds and is largely to the south of the
village of Nethybridge which is located just south of
where the River Nethy flows into the River Spey. The
whole area is in the Highlands. Abernethy Forest is at
a lower elevation than the Braes of Abernethy to the
east. I suspect that the uplands are high hills or low
mountains as there is a Ski area. I have also come
across a book in my research "Abernethy Forest - Its
People and Its Past" by Elspeth Grant. I have never
found a copy, but I suspect it may provide some
information about the origins of the Abernethys. That
is about all the information I have on the area.
Except that, other than this area, in my reading all
the places associated with the Abernathys were grants
form one king or another.
