Hi!

Your PETREE family name, if of Acadian origin, may have originally been
PITRE. The PITRE name has had several transformations over the years and
PETREE is one of them as is PEETS and PETERS.

I have some info on the descendants of Jean PITRE, the earliest Acadian
PITRE, some of which is posted at http://www.isn.net/~dhunter/pitre.html.
(note that the info on the site is a bit out of date and there is one big
mistake – Jean Pitre did not have a second wife named M. Mayols).

Unfortunately I don't have anything on the John David PETREE Sr. you're
seeking.
