Hi Everybody.. I have this written by MGR Louis Richard Cahier "C" pp 34, 35:
The Aucoin family goes back to the first census of Acadia... however, it is
necessary to go down to the one of 1686 to find a male ancestor of this family
in the person of Martin married to Marie Gaudet who at this census accounted
for 8 children: 4 sons 4 daughters.
Martin Aucoin was among the first settlers of Mines (La Grand-Pré tranlated
means "The great meadow") and it is here that his descendants settled as
well.. so much so that within the acadian sense they formed "a whole village"
that bore their name of Aucoin.
In 1755, there were 18 Aucoin in Mines, 2 at Memramcook and 1 at Chipoudy.
The Aucoin of the Trois-Rivières area desend from this last one whose name was
Jean-Baptiste married to Marie-Anne Saulnier.
Other spellings for the name Aucoin: Coing - Aucoing and Aucouin
The first ancestor's name in France was spelled AUCOUIN.
If anybody wants more information on the Aucoin family, I also have the
children of
Martin + Catherine Theriault
Alexis + Anne-Marie Bourg(Bourque)
Pierre + Elisabeth Brault + Catherine Comeau
René + Madeleine Bourg(Bourque)
Jean + Marguerite Pitre
Martin + Isabelle-Elisabeth Boudrot
Paul + Marie-Josette LeBlanc
Pierre + Isabelle Brault
Pierre + Félicité LeBlanc + Marie Doucet
Alexis + Marie-Josephte Babin + Thècle Lereau
Those are all the families that I have information on at this time.
