The following is taken from a book called "Acadie, Sketches of a
Journey", pub. in 1994 by the National
Society of Acadia. I purchased the book at the Univ. of Moncton.

On page 27 and I quote:

"Although 60 families - 50 family names - are generally recognized as
forming the nucleus of early Acadia, and 75 names are now identified
in comtemporary Acadia as Acadian families, several others share the
Acadian journey for a while. Most of these disappear, either as a
result of the Deportation or its aftermath. The following list,
compiled by genealogist Stephen White, accounts for the families
recorded in Acadia a short time before theDeportation in 1755." (The
first families are highlighted in red on the chart so I will star
(***) and capitalize those.
