Subject: How do you get removed from the Mailing List?
Date: Tue, 03 Aug 1999 00:15:30 -0400

Hi Folks:

The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this
ACADIAN-CAJUN Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis.
- -------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have joined, there are only _three_ ways a subscriber can get
removed from the ACADIAN-CAJUN Mailing List:

1. You chose to unsubscribe yourself for whatever reason.

2. I chose to unsubscribe you because you are not following posted guidelines.

3. The Rootsweb software automatically removes you from the Mailing List,
because messages being sent to your address are being "bounced-back".

Item # 1:
a) You may chose to "temporarily" unsubscribe from the List because you are
going to be absent for an extended period of time. That of course is YOUR
decision and when you return, you need only re-subscribe.
b) You change your e-mail address, in which case, you need to unsubscribe
the "old" address and re-subscribe under your "new" address.

Item # 2:
a) Very few people get removed from the List by myself...and when they do,
it is usually after they've received fair warning that they are breaking
posted guidelines of the Mailing List (a blatant "flaming" message is one
of the few exceptions where a member may be removed without further warning).
b) When subscribers are removed from List by myself, it is permanent and
they cannot re-subscribe.

Item # 3:
a) The Rootsweb software automatically unsubscribe's a member, when a
number of messages from the Mailing List have been "bounced-back" (for
whatever reason). While a change in e-mail address can cause this, more
often it is because the subscribers Mailbox is full (or exceeds the size
allowed by your ISP).
b) I am provided a copy of all "bounced" messages by the Rootsweb software
and I usually attempt to advise the subscriber...however, sometimes my
messages are also "bounced". If you do receive my message, you need to
quickly contact your local ISP to have the matter rectified and/or delete
some of the messages in your Mailbox (at the server level).
c) If you stop receiving messages from the Mailing List (and have _not_
been informed that I was unsubscribing you for cause), you need only
re-subscribe by using the information listed at the URL address of my
signature.
