'Talon, in 1667, states that there were only four families of noble
blood in Canada, Repentigny, Tilly, Poterie, and Allibout. Michel LeNeuf,
Sieur de La Valliere belonged to te Poterie family who came from Caen to
Quebec in 1638

These four Quebecois and Acadian families would of had coats of arms for
one. In heraldry didn.t each generatoin have a different coat of arms as
well as each child in that geneartion. hence if a Nobleman bearing coat of
arms had 5 sons, each son would have his own coat of arms, slightly
different from his fathers. Correct me if I am wrong. If this is true then
each generatoin would have a modified coat of arms. The people who monitor
the giving of coat of arms, would be able to identify just who was in that
suit of armour just by the shield he bore.
