Hi Folks:
The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this
ACADIAN-CAJUN Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis.
- -------------------------------------------------------------
You may not be aware that all e-mail messages posted on this ACADIAN-CAJUN
Mailing List since April 1999, have been archived indefinitely by Rootsweb.
Not only does this eliminate the trouble of you "saving" messages on your
own computer, but it provides ready-access for any message you've
previously seen here (or may have missed when you were away and temporarily
unsubscribed from the List).
Until now, it was somewhat complicated to access these archived messages
however, Rootsweb has just introduced a new method of finding same. You can
now access archived messages of this Mailing List, by using your web
browser and visiting <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ACADIAN-CAJUN-L>
This is a remarkably comfortable way to browse through the posts that have
been made to the ACADIAN-CAJUN Mailing List. Be sure to use the integrated
search engine to find what you are looking for.
To use the Archiver you will need to pick a user name and password and you
will need to accept a cookie. The reason for passwords and cookies, is to
keep spammers' e-mail address harvesters *out* of the archives and this
password-and-cookie feature, provides the necessary protection to ensure
your e-mail address is NOT exposed to spammers.
- -------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. As you will see when you visit the above noted URL address, all archived
messages can be viewed in "chronological" order, or in "thread" (by
subject) order. The importance of using a brief but descriptive "subject"
when you're posting messages (or replies) on the Mailing List, should be
quite obvious. It is also important to also use the _original_ "subject"
when replying to a message. This new service is provided for YOUR/OUR
benefit... so let's all work together to make it successful. So, when
posting a message to the Mailing List, please don't use a vague "subject
heading" like...'Need Help'. Instead use a brief but descriptive "Subject"
which best describes the content of your message.
2. If you are subscribed in the "Digest Mode", be certain to remove the
Digest Reference Number in the "Subject" column, when replying to messages
on the Mailing List, and replace same with a brief/descriptive "Subject"
based on the content of your reply.
3. Another very important consideration, is that reply messages to initial
inquiries should be posted to the Mailing List, rather than sent
_privately_ to the originator. This is the only way all can see both the
question... and the answer.
Many thanks for your anticipated cooperation.
