Subject: Re: 100,000 Louisiana Slaves Article
Date: Mon, 31 Jul 2000 16:54:24 EDT
It was not an article that listed names. It was an article that identified
some slave owners, Governor Foster's ancestor in particular. It also
contained the often repeated story as to how the slaves worked, without pay
and built the state of Louisiana. No mention was made of the indentured
workers that were also not paid and worked fron "see to can't see" for
nothing more than a barn to sleep in and leftover food.
It also repeated the often told story of how the slaves were responsible for
the creole culture and cuisine in New Orleans.
I copied it, but then when I read it, I erased it. Mostly mis-information.
