I saw several unsubscribe notices with message re lack of genealogy support
but none of them contained any request for the genealogy support that was
not being provided. There have been recent request for "roll call" and
other approaches to identifying research needs. There are several members
(myself included) who try to find information in the resources available to
us to respond to these requests. I encourage everyone to identify & post
their needs. I also encourage everyone to remember that this is a genealogy
and history List. Every now and then something "controversial" will crop
up. It would be unfortunate if we added the history issues to the same
exclusions as food & jokes.

Hi Folks:

Thanks for "cooling it" on the above-noted subject.

It may interest you to know that we lost a total of _eleven_ very good
subscribers on the List... people who chose to unsubscribe, because of the
recent lack of genealogical information posted.

Believe me folks, it's not always easy to facilitate a List such as this
one since, with approximately 600 subscribers, there is considerable
variety of opinions. But I certainly appreciate the fact that I was _not_
required to make the difficult decision of permanently unsubscribing anyone.

Thanks again for your understanding and cooperation.
