I'm trying to connect to the Quebecois Tapin family, my
g-g-etc.-grandmother Elisabeth Tapin b. ca. 1700 (very ballpark date) m.
ca. 1720 to Louis Charpentier. They had one child that I know of,
Pierre Charpentier who m. Jeanne Moutard; Pierre d. Aug. 18, 1786 in St.
James Parish, LA. All I know of Elisabeth is the mention on her son's
marriage certificate; it says that the father (Louis Charpentier) was
from Toussay, France, and the mother (Elisabeth Tapin) was from Quebec.

There was a Tapin family in Quebec, Antoine Tapin m. Jeanne Magdelaine,
who m. Nov. 4, 1669 and had two known children, Rene (b. 11-1-1677, m.
Marie-Louise Loriot) and Jean (b. 11-9-1679, m. Genevieve Berard). I do
not have complete children's lists for either of these; from the
approximate date of Elisabeth's birth, she could be the daughter of
either, or _could_ conceivably have been Antoine's daughter, although he
and Jeanne would have been pretty old by that time!

Help!?!?!?!?!? Does anyone know where Elisabeth came from? Any hints
would be much appreciated, and as always, I'm happy to share what I
have.

Cheers,
