I also am curious about Charles Pontiff. In Steven White's book, Jacques
David, dit Pontif, was born 12/22/1670, surgeon major of Fort Royal, married
to Jeanne de Saint-Etienne de La Tour. Two children are mentioned,
Jacques-Francois and Jeanne. Jette has a Jacques David dit Pontife, but he
married Marie Grandry. There is also a Jean David dit Pontife, who married
Marie-Anne Prevost. I'd be interested in any other information you may
find.
