Subject: Louisiana's First Acadian Religious (Nuns)

As I've posted previously, Rose LeBlanc, my 4th great-grandaunt was the 1st
Acadian nun in Louisiana. But, she wasn't the only one who entered the
Ursulines between 1765 - 1768. Three other Acadian women entered (one was
sent back to her family). The 3 were Marguerite Bourg (returned to her
family); Anne Gertrude Braud - served 47 years and died in 1818; and
Elizabeth Bro (sister of Anne Gertrude) who died after 3 years (her case was
unusual - see the page!)

James F. Geraghty persisted requested the research that led to the
identification of the information by Sister Jane Frances Heaney, O.S.U.
Archivist. The information identifies the parents and origins.

Mr. Geraghty's research was published in the Attakapas Gazette, Volume XII,
No. 4, Winter 1977, pages 198-200.
