Hi,
I have just learned from the Archives of Baton Rouge that Victoria
was adopted by my ggrandfather and ggrandmother, Theodule Luc Michel and
Evela Babin. She is recorded in the household on the census of 1880,
Ascension Parish, Enumeration District #94 (Donaldsonville), page 34. I
am not sure if I have the name spelled correctly as the copy that I
received as well as the images on Ancestry.com is not clear. Details
also include that she was born in Louisiana, her father was born in
Spain and her mother in Louisiana. She is shown to be 15 years of age at
the time the census was taken. She could not read nor write. I have
looked at DOBR books under in 1865 for possibilities, but found nothing,
but this may be because I have not spelled the name correctly. Any help
would be appreciated, specially if someone can see better than I can and
has access to the 1880 census.
Thanks in advance
Andrea Scott
