GARDNER- Adolphe Richard, 96, of 139 Baker St., died Saturday, April 6, in
HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.
His wife of 68 years, Bella (Leger) Richard, died in 1998. He leaves two
daughters, Lena Newcomb of Hubbardston and Joanne Laliberty of Gardner; two
sisters, Marianne Jaillet of Canada and Lucy Leger of the Baldwinville
section of Templeton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews. A daughter, Jeannette Richard of Gardner died in 1985; and a sister,
Emma Boudreau of Canada, died in 1997. He was born in Canada, son of Clement
and Margarite (Caissie) Richard.
Mr. Richard was a furniture finisher for the former Custon & Modern
Manufacturing Co. for many years, retiring in 1970. He was a a member of Our
Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Sacred Heart League. He was also a
member of the Acadien Social Club, Templeton Fish & Game Club, Gardner Fish &
Gun Club, and the Beagle Club. He enjoyed walking.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 10, from Boucher Funeral Home
Inc., 110 Nichols St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary
Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours
are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the funeral home. Donations may be made
to Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440
