Hi all,
can anyone tell me what the term in SWLR means when it says, "Recognized"
these children. There is an entry for Simon Guillory, he married Marguerite
and "recognized" her 7 children. Does this mean he adopted them? Was there
adoption back in the early 1800s or does it mean he "took them under his
wing"?
