Hi Don and Maurice,
I believe that I have solved the mystery. Following along Maurice's
post, I decided to do a bit more of a search. I should have looked for
Amand Landry as having married "Marie"-Madeleine Landry instead of
zeroing in on the parents you had posted Don <smile>.
I believe the following is the information you need for Amand Landry and
Marie-Madeleine Landry and it is in the DGFA.
In Stephen White's Dictionnaire Généalogique des Familles Acadiennes by
Stephen A. White, pages 936 i. (92.) & 948, is found the marriage of
Amand Landry to Marie-Madeleine Landry Abt 1751. Amand was born 12 June
1728 in Grand-Pre and died 11 February 1809 at Lacadie, Québec where he
was buried the next day on 12 February 1809.
Baptized 19 July 1728 - Godparents: Jean LeBlanc who signed and
Angélique Carne
Census: Marblehead, Mass 1760 age 31; Mass 1763
Marriage according to Archange Godbout
Added Source: 1947 Anniversary booklet for St-Jacques l'Achigan, page
47
Hi wife, Marie-Madeleine Landry was born 20 June 1727.
Baptized 19 October 1727 - Godparents: Antoine LeBlanc and Madeleine
Forest
Census: Marblehead, Massachusetts 1760 age 31; Massachusetts 1763
Source: Dictionnaire Généalogique des Familles by Stephen A. White,
page 948 f.
Amand Landry's parents were Antoine Landry and Marie-Blanche LeBlanc who
married Abt. 1705 at St-Charles de Mines according to the DBIM. Antoine
died in Boston, MA while in exile sometime after 1755.
Marie-Madeleine's parents were René Landry and Marie-Madeleine Melanson
who married 08 November 1712 at Grand-Pre.
Amand and Marie-Madeleine had the same great grandparents.
In the 1947 Anniversary booklet for St-Jacques l'Achigan, it is stated
that in 1767 a group of Acadian exiles from Connecticut and
Massachusetts had made their way to St-Jacques and became the pioneers
of this parish. Among them are listed Amand Landry and Madeleine
Landry.
There are only 2 Amand Landry's that I could find in that time frame.
The one that Maurice stated died the same year as he was born and the
Amand Landry that I have posted. - Lucie

Hi Don and Lucie,
First, I'm not sure that Claude Landry and Magdeleine Marguerite Doucet
were the
parents of Amand Landry. SAW pp 946-947 gives the children of this
marriage and
shows Amand born Sept 30, 1730 and buried Oct 29 of the same year.
Amand Landry must have married Magdeleine Landry in Acadia before
deportation.
According to the PRDH, among the five children provisionally baptized in
L'Assomption in 1766 and 1767, Élisabeth would be the oldest (age 13)
with a
birth date of 1753. Four others were apparently born in exile in
Massachusetts
in 1756, 1758, 1760 and 1762. I also found b/bap records for five other
children
born in Laprairie between 1768 and 1772, of which only 2 survived to
marry.
