Thank You, Stanley for the names of sources where I might find info about
the concessions....I had forgotten to include that in my earlier post, and
really had no idea where to start looking. :-)

Again, Thanks
Rita

The LeBlanc concession [4 leagues square Note: A league is approximately
3 miles] was located on the Yazoo River. It was owned by Claude LeBlanc
the French Minister of War and several others. The settlers [228]
arrived between June - August 1720 on the ships L'Alexandre, L'Elephant
and La Seine.

Most of the concessionaires didn't ever come to Louisiana. The
concessions were run by Directors. This one was run by Srs. Broutin,
Durot and des Fontaines. The Secretary was Sr. Norville, the Storekeeper
was Sr. Alair and the Clerk was Sr. Le Brun

The concessions are discussed in great detail in the Mississippi Valley
Pioneers that was compiled, written and edited by Neil J. Toups. The
LeBlanc concession is on pages 13-14.

Another concession was owned by Antoine Simon Le Page Du Pratz who
actually did come to Louisiana and later wrote a book re the History of
Louisiana that provides a lot of information re Natchez and the Indians.
It contains a lot of sketches.

CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THE "LEBLANC CONCESSION"?
1) WHERE IN LOUISIANA WAS THIS CONCESSION?
2) WHO IS THE LEBLANC [HIS FULL NAME]?

THANKS,
RITA
