Hi Roger & All,

I have done some study on the relationship of Joseph Semer, spouse of Anne
Landry & Germain Semer, spouse of Marie Trahan. The following is what I have
concluded from the study of several entries in Robichaux's "The Acadia
Exiles in St. Malo". I do believe that Joseph Semer & Germain Semer are
brothers and that they are the sons of Jean Semer/Lemer & Marguerite
Vincent. Here are some of my notes:

PROOF OF PARENTAGE: germain semer is definitely the son of Jean LEMER and
Marguerite VINCENT: IN THE MARRIAGE RECORD OF ZACHARIE BOUDREAU &
MARGUERITE VALLOIS...it states that "Germain Semer, first cousin by
marriage, of the bride[signs as a witness]..." here's the connection:
Marguerite's 1st husband is a 1st cousin of Germain [their mothers are
sisters, they are daughters of Michel Vincent & Marie Josèphe Richard]
Marguerite's 1st husbands name is Olivier Prieur/Dubois, son of Jean Joseph
Prieur/Dubois and Anne Vincent.

PROOF THAT GERMAIN AND JOSEPH SEMER ARE BROTHERS: IN THE MARRIAGE OF PIERRE
D'AIGRE & ANNE MICHEL: it states that"Joseph Semer, first cousin by marriage
of the bride;..." [Joseph is a witness at this marriage]..." here's the
connection: Anne MICHEL's first husband, Joseph PRIEUR/DUBOIS, is a 1st
cousin to Joseph Semer [their mother's are sisters and they are the
daughters of Michel VINCENT and Marie Josèphe RICHARD! ! ! JOSEPH DUBOIS &
OLIVIER DUBOIS ARE BROTHERS, SONS OF Jean Joseph Prieur DUBOIS AND ANNE
VINCENT.

Hope this helps,
Rita

Paul,

Joseph Semer married to Anne Landry may have been a brother to Jean-Baptiste
Semer born in 1725, but I can't prove it. The following is what I have
worked out on the Semers based in part on what Paul Surette has in
"Petitcoudiac".

Jean Lemaire (Semer) b. ca 1680 (Jean & Marguerite Heron) married 22 Nov
1717 Marguerite Vincent b. ca 1695 (Michel & Marie-Josephe Richard)
Deported to Massachusetts (census 14 August 1763)

1) Germain b. ca 1720 married ca 1745 Marie Trahan (?Rene/Isabelle
Darois?)
A) son b. ca 1748
B) Simon b. ca 1750
C) Marie-Francoise b. ca 1761
d) Gregoire-Dominique-Gerard b. ca 1768
Deported to Viginia which refused to accept them and were interned in
England. To France in 1763.

2) Timothee b. ca 1721 married ? Anne ?
8 children
Deported to Massachusetts (census 14 Aug 1763)

3) Jean b. ca 1725 married ca. 1750 Elisabeth Saulnier b. ca 1723
(Marcel & Elisabeth Breau)
A) Germain b. ca 1750
B) Jean-Baptiste b. ca 1755
Jean, Elisabeth and Germain deported to Viginia which refused to accept
them and were interned in England. To France in 1763.
Jean-Baptiste separated from family and came to Louisina with Joseph
Broussard.

4)? Joseph b. ca 1727 married ca. 1754 Anne Landry (parents?)
A) Michel b. ca 1755
B) Marin b. ca 1758
C) Anne-Francoise b. 7 Aug 1763
d) Marie-Marguerite b. 16 April 1766

5) Osite b. ca 1728
Deported to Massachusetts with parents (census 14 Aug 1763)

6) Amand b. ca 1740 married ca 1762 Anne ?
Deported to Massachusetts (census 14 Aug 1763)

Joseph Semer and his wife seem to have been deported to Virginia in 1755 and
when Virginia would not accept the Acadians, were sent on to England and
interned. After the signing of the Treaty of Paris in February 1763, they
went to St. Malo arriving on 22 May 1763. As you noted, a daughter,
Anne-Francoise, was born 7 August 1763, a daughter, Marie-Marguerite, was
born 16 April 1766, and Anne Landry died 15 June 1766.

On the 7 November 1785, the L'AMITIE arrived in New Orleans with 6 Semers
aboard. These included:

Joseph Semer
Marie
Anne-Francoise

Joseph Semer: to date I have found no record that would prove he arrived in
Louisiana.

Anne-Francoise Semer: Hebert SWLAR v. 1A p. 705 SEMER, Anne-Francoise
married 31 Dec. 1798 Joseph Savot.

Marie Semer: Hebert SWLAR v. 1A p. 113, Anne Semer was a sponser for Joseph
Breaux (Joseph Breaux & Francoise Semer) bt. 6 July 1794. Could this be the
sister Marie (Francoise) of Anne-Francoise? I can find nothing more on
Joseph Breaux married to Francoise Semer.

Also listed are:

Jean-Baptiste Le Blanc
Elisabeth Aucoin
Marie-Marguerite Semer neice

Could this be the daughter of Joseph Semer and Anne Landry born in 1766? If
Joseph Semer was on the ship, why would his daughter be with Jean-Baptiste
Le Blanc? I have been unable to find more on Marie-Marguerite Semer.

Also listed on the L'AMITE are:

Gregoire Semer
Francoise Semer, sister

These are the children of Germain Semer & Marie Trahan.

Hebert SWLAR v. 1A p. 88: Antoine Boudroux (Joseph Boudreaux &
Marie-Francoise Semer) bt. 2 Jul 1786. Gregoire Semer was a sponser.

Hebert SWLAR v. 1A p. 705 Semer, Francoise, (Germain Semer & Marie Trahan),
widow Boudreaux, married 23 Aug 1796 William Norris. Gregoire Semer was a
witness.

Hebert, SWLAR v. 2A p. 851: SEMER, Marie-Francoise spouse of William Norris
died 20 Oct. 1831 at 51 years.

Hope you can make sense of this.
