Hi,
Thanks Margy for moving the discussion to a more broader based message
arena. Lets move on. I have a question that maybe someone has the answer
for. Regarding Michel Hache Gallant. Who were his parents? and where was he
born, in France or in Quebec, or was it Acadia? I have seen all three
Listed. Was his mother a native MikMaq? What does S.White have in his
Dictionaire? Thank you for your info.
This is the Michel Hache Gallant who married Anne Cormier, and was the first
Acadian to move to Ile St. Jean about 1720.
And the father of the extensive Gallant family throughout the Maritimes.

p.s.
Maybe it is time to do another roll call, and let the newer Acadian/Cajun
cousins on the list introduce themselves and reintroduce the ones that have
been around for awhile. I saw some names come up during the previous
aforementioned discussion that were not as familiar as some of the others.
My name is James Perry, I live in beautiful but snowy Summerside PEI,
Canada. My roots are Perry/Poirier, Arsenault, Gallant, DesRoches, Cormier,
Bernard, Aucoin (Wedge) and back to most of the original surnames who
settled Acadia in the early and mid 1600's. I have been researching my
family for about 28 years now.
Your turn now.
your Island Acadian Cousin
James
