Hi Marcia,

To answer your question about "escaping" to Quebec, it means just that.
They were never given choices by the British. Those who could make it to
Quebec were not deported.

I want to thank all of you for the info regarding my Turcot/Tureaud and
Doiron branches. The abbreviations are very helpful too. If you have other
resources for these families as well as the Trahan family, that would be
great too.

I do have some questions. When it says that the family went to Quebec to
escape the deportation, does that mean that they actually escaped or were
they given a choice? Did they have to hide in Quebec so they wouldn't get
sent away? When Francis the son came into New York, would he have hidden
his background to fit in? We are a very Protestant family and I am
wondering if he gave up his Catholic beliefs. I know no one can speak for
this family, but I wondered if there are patterns that would give a clue.
