My Acadian heritage is a new discovery. It looks as if Francois and Catherine were able to flee to Quebec. Their son Francis joined the Rev war on the side of the US (where he severely frostbit his feet) and settled in NY. Along the way, he must have given up his Catholic religion, as the Gee family was Protestant and our family is Protestant.
I have several questions. Does anyone have any corrections or additions? Does anyone share this line? How many were able to escape to Quebec? How common was it to join the US Rev war like Francis did? Do you think that he just left his family in Canada, gave up his religion and made a new life here in the US?
This is a great list to belong to and I have learned so much by being part of it.
Thanks,
Marcia K
