Subject: [ACADIAN-CAJUN] LEBERT

Some of the LEBERTs came to Louisiana in the 1785 Acadian group. Had
they been in Acadia and part of the expulsion? Who was the
progenitor?

Hi Carl,

The 1st of my direct LEBERT line to come to Louisiana was:

Pierre Jean Joseph Joachin ^ Lebert (Pierre Lebert & Marguerite Boudrot)b.
11 Jun 1772 at Plouer, Cotes-du-Nord, France.

Pierre Lebert married 03 May 1796 at St. Martinville, LA Marie Rose Hebert
(Joseph & Jeanne La Foresterie)

Both of Pierre's parents were deceased before 1785, but he traveled to
Louisiana aboard the Beaumont:

Hope this helps.

I appreciate very much the responses. They were all very interesting.

The name Pierre Jean Joseph Joachin ^ Lebert has to win some kind of award----four given names and a surname! I assume the Pierre Lebert who married in St. Martinville, LA in 1796 is the same (without the extra names)?

From the responses, it seems that Jean LEBERT dit Jolycoeur is the French progenitor of the LEBERT line. Since he married in 1714 in Port Royal, Acadia, there ought to be some records of him between 1714 and the deportation in 1755?? Or have they all been destroyed----

I have the Dictionnaire which lists the 8 children, 4 of which appear to be males. Is there any data on any of these children? Or will that be in Stephen White's next volumes----

Thanks and Merci Bien
