I don't have much concrete to add on Michel Bernard, but I do have some
indications of what might have happened.

Michel's parents were married in Beaubassin 28 Nov 1719. They may have
fled to Quebec in 1755.

Michel's father, Jean-Baptiste, died in Quebec 19 Dec 1757 (SW p. 126)
and his mother, Cécile Gaudet, died in Quebec 21 Jan 1788 (SW p. 677).
It appears that during the deportation Michel and his older siblings
became separated from his mother and six younger siblings who were in
Quebec and remained there.

In the Registres of Ste. Anne de Ristigouche, Michel Bernard appears
twice.

Entry 129 (Emard p. 54) is the marriage of Michel and Marie Guilbeau on
25 January 1761. The act was signed by Michel Bernard, Marie Guilbeau,
Joseph Guilbeau and Jean-Baptiste Bernard. Witnesses were Lachaussé
[Philippe], Michel, and Pere Ambroise [priest].

Entry 62 (Emard p. 40) Michel Bernard is godfather at the baptism on 13
January 1761 of Jean, son of Paul Bernard and Marguerite Gaudet (SW p.
682). Paul Bernard, son of Joseph Bernard and Marie-Josephé Gaudet) was
Michel's cousin.

In the 24 Oct 1760 census of Restigouche is listed:

Paul Bernard 5 members

As far as I have been able to find, Michel's godchild, Jean, was the
first child of Paul. Therefore, Michel and his older siblings could be
the other members of his household.

In the 9 Aug 1761 census of the Acadian Coast is listed:

Michel Bernard 2 members

This is Michel and his wife, Marie.

In the 12 August 1763 list of prisoners at Halifax, Michel is listed
with his wife and his son, Jean-Baptiste. born ca 1762.

Also at Halifax was Michel's brother Pierre listed with his wife,
Marguerite Arseneau, and 4 children.

Michel Bernard came to Louisiana with Joseph Broussard and settled at
Attakapas where he was listed in the 1766 census. Pierre may also have
come to Louisiana with Joseph Broussard and then fled to Cabanocey in
the Fall of 1765 where he is found in the 1766 census.

Not a lot of hard evidence, but I think it is a reasonable scenario.
