1880.

Their marriage record from SWLR CD:

This family is confusing to say the VERY LEAST, but here's what I've found
so far that leads me to believe that Celima/Zelima BORDELON, who became the
1st spouse of Louis Jean Deville, could very well be the daughter of
Sausipas [Sancippe] Bordelon & Josephine Fontenot.

Birth Record [source: SWLR CD]
BORDELON, Celinie (Sensible & Josephine FONTENOT) b. 13 July 1845 (Opel
Ch.: v.4, p.288)

1) In the 1850 census, Celima is listed as age 10 [sic], in her widowed
father's household.
1850 United States Federal Census > Louisiana > St Landry > Not Stated -
dated 20 Oct. 1850:
Household #755/855:
Nicolas Bordelon, age 50, planter; [Sancippe...his wife Josephine Fontenot's
succession is dated Bef. Nov 1846]
Emelia, age 22;
Zenon, age 19;
Azelia, age 17;
Hermina, age 16;
Celima, age 10 [sic].
NOTE: next door is Sancippe & Josephine's eldest son, Nicolas Bordelon & his
new wife.

2) In the census of 1860 she is found in the household of her mother's
sister, Celeste P.B.Fontenot [Lafleur]. This household is in close proximity
of the Jean Deville household.

NOTE: Next door is Homere Lafleur, son of Olivier & Celeste Fontenot.
Remember, Louis Jean Deville & Celima Bordelon name their eldest son, Homere
;o).

3) Then Louis Jean Deville & Celima Bordelon marry in 1863. I find two
children born to this couple on the SWLR CD:

a) DEVILLE, Homere (Louis & Selima BORDELON) b. 25 Nov. 1864 (VP Ch.: v. 1,
p. 234).
b) DEVILLE, Onezia (Louis & Selina BORDELON) b. 30 Dec. 1866 (VP Ch.: v. 2,
p. 36).

4) Celima must have died sometime before the 1870 census, because her
spouse & her two children are found in his parents' household:

Arsene, age 50, female, keeping house;

5) Then in 1873 Louis Jean Deville remarries to Elvina Fontenot (Augustin &
Celeste Fontenot).

DEVILLE, Louis (Jean, pere & Arsene JAKMAN) m. 5 Oct. 1873 Helvina Belaire
FONTENOT Recognized these children: Homere; Onezia; Orelie. (VP Ch.: v. 2,
p. 124)

NOTE: I cannot find a birth record for Orelie on the SWLR CD, but my guess
is that Orelie is the son of Louis Jean Deville & his second wife, given his
age [from the 1880 census, below], and the fact that he is not in the
household with his father & 2 siblings in 1870. It is my guess that Orelie
is the reason the marriage record stated "Recognized these children...",
because we know that the other two children were born to Celima Bordelon.

1880 United States Federal Census > Louisiana > St Landry > All Townships >
District 46 - dated 08 June, 1880:
Household #128/133:
Louis Jean Deville, age 35, farming;
Elvenia, age 35, wife, keeping house;
Homere, age 15, son, farm labor;
Onezier, age 13, dgtr., at home;
Orelie, age 6, son;
Artenas, age 4, son;
Deomed, age 2, son.

6) Another possible clue that Celima is the daughter of Sausipas [Sancippe]
Bordelon & Josephine Fontenot, is the fact that her [Celima] brother, Zenon,
married the sister of Louis Jean Deville the year before he [Louis Jean]
remarried. As I'm sure you're aware, siblings marrying siblings was quite
common back then.

I hope this helps, even though her birth "DATE" conflicts with what you
found in Winston DeVille's book.

Looking for the parents of Selima Bordelon married to Louis Jean Deville in
1863 in Ville Platte. Their children are Homer, Onezia and Orelie. Winston

Deville's Deville book has a birth of Dec 30, 1846 but no parents. I cannot

find that birth record or baptismal record.
