Andy,
Here is what I have on Amand Thibodeau and Gertrude Bourg:
6) GERTRUDE BOURG
BOURQUE [sic for Bourg], Gertrude (Jacques [sic for Charles] and Anne
BOUDREAU [sic for Boudrot]), native of Isle St. Jean, Dependency of
Louisbourg, married Amand THIBEAUDAU [sic for Thibodeau] (dec. Charle
and dec. Marie COMEAU), Feb. 27, 1765 (SLC, B5, 185 & M2, 15) ADNOSR
v. 2, p. 31
Charles Bourg (White p. 230), born ca 1695, son of Abraham Bourg and
Marie Brun, married ca 1726 Anne Boudrot (White p. 205), born 25
August 1709, daughter of Charles Boudrot and Marie-Josephe Landry.
24 October 1760 Restigouche prisoners
Charles Bourg widower [sic] 13 members
My research indicates these may be:
Charles Bourg age 65
Anne Boudrot, age 50
Pierre? age 29
Louis? age 27
Anne-Marie? age 25
Marguerite age 23
Elizabeth? age 21
Paul? age 18
Madeleine age 16
Gertrude age 18
L’Ange age 12
Joseph age 10
Louise age 8
12 August 1763 Halifax prisoners
Cherle Bourg, his wife, 11 children
My research indicates these may be:
Charles Bourg age 68
Anne Boudrot, age 53
Pierre? age 32
Louis? age 30
Anne-Marie? age 28
Marguerite age 26
Elizabeth? age 24
Paul? age 21
Madeleine age 19
Gertrude age 21
L’Ange age 15
Joseph age 13
Louise age 11
There is no evidence that Charles, Anne Boudrot, or the five children
marked by ? ever came to Louisiana. The ones that made it to
Louisiana are Marguerite, Madeleine, Gertrude, L’Ange, Joseph, and
Louise. Because of the ages of the children, it would seem the
parents died, perhaps on the way to Louisiana.
Marguerite Bourg, born 19 April 1737, married ca 1764 Pierre Pitre,
born ca 1736 , son of Pierre Pitre (White p. 1319) and Agathe Doucet
(White p. 544). This couple came to Louisiana probably in May 1765
along with Pierre’s father and settled in Opelousas.
Pierre Pitre may have died before the 1766 Opelousas census, because
neither he nor Marguerite can be found. Marguerite was in Attakapas
before the 1769 census where is found:
Amand Tibodeau age 29 [sic]
His wife [Gertrude Bourg age 27]
Blandine daughter age 2
Isaac son age 1
Marguerite Bourque age 25 [sic] [sister of Gertrude][widow of Pierre
Pitre]
Marie Gotreau [Gautreau] orphan age 5 [orphan of Pierre Gautreau &
Marie-Louise Thibodeau, sister of Amand]
Gertrude may have married ca 1764 Amand Thibodeau, born 18 January
1734, son of Charles Thibodeau (White p. 1509) and Marie-Francoise
Comeau (White p. 376).
Amand and Gertrude went to Louisiana with Joseph Broussard in
February 1765.
Shortly after they arrived in New Orleans, they had their marriage
blessed on 27 February 1765 (ADNOSR v. 2 p. 261).
1766 Attakapas census is found:
Armand Thibodeau 1 militia man, 1 woman
My research indicates these may be:
Amand Thibodeau age 32
Gertrude Bourg age 24
In the 1769 Attakapas census is found:
Amand Tibodeau age 29 [sic]
His wife [Gertrude Bourg age 27]
Blandine daughter age 2
Isaac son age 1
Marguerite Bourque age 25 [sic] [sister of Gertrude][widow of Pierre
Pitre]
Marie Gotreau [Gautreau] orphan age 5 [orphan of Pierre Gautreau &
Marie-Louise Thibodeau, sister of Amand]
L’Ange Bourg, and his siblings Madeleine, Joseph, and Louise may have
come to Louisiana in May 1765, but later going to Cabanocey.
In the 1766 Cabanocey census is found:
L’augebourg age 17
Joseph Bourg age 26
Magdelaine, his cousin age 20
Marie [Louise], cousin age 12
Joseph age 13
The cousin Joseph Bourg, may be the son of Joseph Bourg (White p.
236) and Marie Landry.
Ca. 1767, Madeleine Bourg married Sylvain Saulnier, b. ca 1738, son
of Etienne Saulnier (White p. 1447) and Jeanne Comeau (White p. 383)
and went to live with him in Opelousas.
In the 1771 Opelousas census is found:
Sylvain Saulnier age 32
Wife age 24 [Madeleine Bourg]
Daughter age 3 [Marie-Louise]
Son age 1 ½ [Sylvain]
Olivier Saulnier age 18 [brother of Sylvain]
Lang Bourg age 22 [brother of Madeleine]
Joseph Bourg age 20 [brother of Madeleine]
Louise Bourg age 18 [sister of Madeleine]
Boy age 8 [Joannise Saulnier, brother of Sylvain]
6) AMAND THIBODEAU
THIBEAUDAU, Amand (dec. Charles and dec. Marie Commeau) Acadian,
native of Lachipoditte, Notre Dame des Neiges Parish in Acadia,
Diocese of Quebec, province of Canada, m. Gertrude Bourge, Feb. 27,
1765 (SLC, B5, 185 & M2, 15) ADNOSR v. 2. p. 261
Amand Thibodeau , born 18 January 1734, son of Charles Thibodeau
(White p. 1509) & Marie-Francoise Comeau (White p. 376), both
deceased prior to 1757. He is the brother of Marie-Louise and
Olivier Thibodeau.
Amand , his sister Marie-Louise and Paul Thibodeau, along with Firmin
Breau, may have been imprisoned at Halifax with their cousin, Pierre
Thibodeau (White p. 1518), born 4 January 1710, son of Michel
Thibodeau and Agnes Dugas. Pierre married ca 1740 Elisabeth Trahan
(White p. 1542), who died before 1 January 1752. They had one
daughter, Marie-Rose, born 30 November 1740 who married on 27
September 1760 Jean-Baptiste Hebert (White p. 812), son of Antoine
Hebert and his second wife, Anne Orillion. Pierre and his family were
imprisoned at Fort Edward.
12 August 1763 Halifax prisoners
Pier Tibaudo widow [sic] 4 children
My research indicates these may be:
Pierre Thibodeau age 53 widower of Elisabeth Trahan
Amand Thibodeau age 29 cousin of Pierre
Marie-Louise age 26 sister of Amand
Paul Thibodeau age 35 , son of Claude Thibodeau and Elizabeth Comeau
Firmin Breau age 14, son of Alexis Breau and Marguerite Barrieau
Firmin Breau was associated with Amand and Marie-Louise in Attakapas
Amand may have married Gertrude Bourg, born 11 April 1742, daughter
of Charles Bourg (White p. 230) & Anne Boudrot (White p. 205).
Charles Bourg and his family had been imprisoned in Halifax.
This couple came to Louisiana with Joseph Broussard, and shortly
after they arrived, they had their marriage blessed in St. Louis
Cathedral on 27 February 1765 (ADNOSR v. 2, p. 261).
1766 Attakapas census is found:
Armand Thibodeau 1 militia man, 1 woman
My research indicates these may be:
Amand Thibodeau age 32
Gertrude Bourg age 24
In the 1769 Attakapas census is found:
Amand Tibodeau age 29 [sic]
His wife [Gertrude Bourg age 27]
Blandine daughter age 2
Isaac son age 1
