I will answer your posting and see if we can reach some common ground. Emmit Starr, The Cherokee Nation in OK and nearly all Recognized Adair Family Historians believe that James the trader was indeed the Father. John said he was his Father also.
Are you using Cooper as a Surname or profession? I ask because you use it in lower case and never as part of the name. Their is no mention of a Cooper in any of the Records on file for citizenship with this Adair line. All approved citizenship papers of this line refer back to this same James.
I would welcome any documentation that refers to a Cooper by any of his descendants. Also he is listed as an Educated man. Educated men do not drop part of their names. They give the name to their children.
James Adair is listed on numerous documents of the time and none refer to a Cooper.
There are numerous James Adair's but none meet the time frame, the area at time, or documentation.
I welcome your response.
Please explain to me what makes you believe there is any connection to a line of Coopers.
