Bob,
I am descended from Samuel Simpson, originally from Chowan County, NC, a
Revolutionary War veteran who moved his family to Orange County, NC, ca
1796, where he was a schoolmaster. His oldest son was Benjamin Jr., born on
July 9, 1769. He married Caty Dickey, and I don't know if they in turn had
a son named Benjamin. I am intrigued by your mention of Lydia Simpson. I
have no record of her in my files, yet I think my Simpson line was one of
the first Simpson families in that part of Orange County that eventually
became Alamance County. I have all of Samuel's children, as listed in their
family Bible, and there is a daughter Elizabeth, born Sept. 1, 1771. Do you
have anything more on Lydia Simpson, and could Lydia be a nickname for
Elizabeth? Both Lydia and Elizabeth were born in 1771.....interesting...
Thanks for your response, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Carl Shumaker
