Debra,
I'm looking for a connection to Adams in Miss, since Pink was in Miss
maybe you can help me.
I'm just beginning to look for my family tree. My grandmother was
disowned by her family when she married my grandfather. My grandmother
would not speak of her family however shortly before her mother's death,
one of her family members found my grandmother and she was reunited with
her mother. They only had one meeting before my ggrandmother's death.
My mother (now deceased) also was contacted my some family from MIss. I
was young and do not know who or from where in Miss. I basically have no
other information other than a copy of my ggrandmother's obituary.
The following information is from that clipping. From a Memphis
newspaper printed in the fall of 1960.
Minerva AdamsBorn Dec. 7, 1860 in Calhourn City, Miss
Died 1960
Married to James Buchanan "Buck" Tankersley
Died 1900
Living children at the time of her death
Lee KellyBig Creek
Carl TankersleySledge, Miss
T. B. TankersleyMemphis, Tenn.
Florence EdwardsBorn July 6, 1885 In Miss.Died
Nov. 26,1976
Blytheville, Arkansas
Florence was living in Water Valley, Miss. in 1915 the time of my
mother's birth. My mother's name is Ina Mae.
The clipping stated she had 15 grandchildren and 33 ggrandchildren. I
know somewhere I have some cousins if I could find them.
Does any of these name appear on your list of Adams' or have you seen any
of these names before? Thank You for the story about Pink and any help
you can give me.
Linda S.

Jim,
Usually, when a second son is named the same first name, it is because the
first son died. Do you have proof that the first son lived beyond 1829? 39
years is a long time between children.
Mary

Hello
Does ANYONE have a James Adams married to an Elizabeth that was in
Halifax County VA in 1832-33? I do not know Elizabeth's maiden name.
They had a son, James W Adams who was born in Halifax County, VA during
that time. James later went to Nelson County, Va where he married for
the second time to Phebe Via, daughter of J. J. and Cornelia Via on 27
January 1871. James W. apparently had a son with his first wife, (her
name is unknown) named Richard Edward Adams. Richard was born 7 June
1864 in Nelson County, VA. Richard claimed this on his marriage license
but I have not been able to prove it Richard is listed in the 1880
census in Nelson County, Va with his father James W. and his wife,
Phebe. Also listed is Honey Via, Phebe's sister. Richard left Nelson
County and as family tales state he would never return there. Richard
married Hettie Elvira Ailstock 31 December 1885 in Bath County, VA. They
had 12 children together, Eugene, Charlie, Carrington, Archibald, Harry,
Shelton, Walter, Clarence, William, Maggie, Lottie, and Grace. Richard
I think remarried and lived in WV for a time after Hettie's death in
1929. I do not know who he married or where in WV they lived. I have
alot of info on the children of Richard and Hettie and am willing to
share if someone can help me with my original questions of who are James
and Elizabeth??? and who was James W. Adams' first wife. Many thanks
in advance for help.
Sincerely,

Subject: [ADAMS-L] Adams in Gwinnett county Georgia
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello Adams family rooters,
I need a little help with my tree, please. I have a Mary Adams
Johnson (b. 10-01-1829, d. 7-8-1895) who married Thomas Dixon Speer (b.
2-14-1813 d. 12-12-1882). They are both buried in Gwinnett county
Georgia. They had 5 children.
1. Georgia b. 1853
2. Roger Lawson b. 9-15-1858
3. Lilian b. 1861
4. James b. 1864
5. Robert Emmett b. 1-15-1867 d. 8-11-1901
Can anyone make a connection to this woman and her family? From the
sketchy information I have pieced together I feel they spent a majority
of their lives in and around the Gwinnett county area, (Cobb, Fulton,
DeKalb counties)in Georgia. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Paul Speer
