10/17/1808: Grand Jury presented that Meady Williford, Gibson West and Nancy
Lewis are orphans under age of 21 and without guardians or means of support;
court ordered Sheriff notice the persons with whom said orphans are living
to bring them to next court in order that they may be provided for. Recorded
in
Duplin Co, NC County Court Minutes. NC State Archives, Raleigh, NC
_______________________________________________________________
In searching for siblings and parentage of Gibson WEST, born NC ca 1792,
died
Mitchell Co., GA 1869, this record was found in the Duplin County, NC Court
Minutes.
Does this court record suggest the mother of Gibson was not alive?
The next NC record of Gibson was when he enlisted Bladen Co., NC, 1814, in
the Sea Fencibles, War of 1812.
For identifying Gibson WEST and his parentage, would Duplin County be the
most likely choice to search?
Thanks for any assistance.
Fran
