Gina:
The Y-chromosome DNA test cannot prove an ancestor.
You can only state with confidence that your cousin and the
descendent of Zacheus COOPERS share a common ancestor.
DNA cannot tell you who that ancestor was or where or when
he lived. The common ancestor may have been a brother,
uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, etc. of Zacheus.
DNA just becomes one more piece of evidence to plug into
the solution. On the other hand, DNA can disprove a
relationship very well.

Through the COOPER DNA project, Zacheus COOPER's decendents exactly
match a cousin of mine who descends from Abner COOPER. Without a
paper trail, can I use this as a source to prove lineage to Wells
COOPER? According to a descendent who has researched Zacheus COOPER,
all the sons of Zacheus COOPER have been documented. There is no
other brother of Wells or Zacheus found in this area of TN or KY.
I appreciate all replies. Thanks in advance.
