I know of at least a half-dozen places where you can do your tree on the web. www.myfamily.com is myfavorite. They let you design your home page and invite others to join.

...Do you know why UFT has discontinued its package?
UFT (originally named ROOTS and developed by CommSoft) was sold several
times in the 1990s and eventually purchased by the company that also owns
FamilyTree Maker. My understanding is that the effort to migrate UFT from
16-bit to 32-bit FoxPro turned out to be more complicated, time-consuming,
and expensive than planned and so was abandoned. TMG also took years longer
than first advertised to make the same transition. If I'm being cynical, I
could say that UFT was abandoned because it eliminated some of the
competition for FTM. Although many UFT users moved to TMG and many still
use UFT, once orphaned, UFT was unlikely to get new users, leaving some
fraction of them to buy FTM. At one point there was an offer by some UFT
users to buy the unfinished FoxPro 32-bit version of UFT so that they could
take over the programming. However, this was rejected by the owners. Since
then, I believe, the parent company of FTM has also changed ownership. I
haven't fully kept up with this over the years.
