I don't think compiled service records are going to help with my William
Bestor. I need his pension record. He died at the S&S Home in Sandusky, Ohio
in 1899.

Actually, I probably don't need more than the index card for Fred'k
Niederbroeker (various spellings), because I am pretty sure I solved the
problem of a birthplace for him when I found what seems to be his parent's
marriage on the IGI. His sister was Mrs. William Knuth of Benton County,
Iowa. Her husband' biography tells a little about her: her father was Karl
Niederbroeker and her mother was Annie Schlattmann (Mary Slotman on a
sister's 1925 Iowa census form).

Now if this was a Schmidt married to a Meier, for example, I would have no
confidence at all that I'd found the correct place. But Carl Heinrich
Niederbroeker married a Schlattmann lady with four given names including
Anna and Maria, *and* in the right time frame to be the parents of the
children I know about, in Rödinghausen, Westfalen. I just don't think there
is another Niederbroeker-Schlattmann marriage in all of Germany in the right
time frame. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the couple I'm
looking for, even though someone has entered on the IGI the one daughter I
seek, "Anna Neiderbracker", wife of Henry Stirtz, with a birthplace of Bas
Rhin.

The film is ordered. I'm working on several lines at the same time. My poor
brain!
