I'll hazard a guess that you don't mean someone's index or extraction of
these censuses. If you're viewing the digitized images at Ancestry.com,
those are the same images you'll see on the NARA & FHL microfilms. (It's why
I keep my Ancestry subscription.)
Unfortunately, some early census enumerators -- through either vague
instructions or misunderstanding -- "cleaned up" or "organized" their census
returns before turning them in. Their notes &/or drafts have been lost, so
the microfilm & digital images are as good as it gets.
Too bad; the original list order could have indicated who our ancestors'
neighbors were.
