I think this was discussed on this list a while back but I have a different
problem than what was discussed.

I have a couple, married and had one child. They divorced and the 2nd
husband adopted the child, taking his name. The mother does not want
any association with the real father listed. The child took the step-fathers
name; I did that. But, do I still list the child in the family of the actual parents
or delete the child from that family altogether? I was still leaving that man as
the first husband of that wife. I did put an explanation that the child was
adopted by the 2nd husband, but I'm not sure how to list everything.
Do I make myself clear? Do I delete the child's father's name from her name,
completely? If her name was Jane Doe, adopted by John Smith, is her name
Jane Doe Smith, or Jane Smith, no reference to Papa Doe.
