Date: Thu, 16 Oct 2014 16:38:23 +0000

The Calgary Public Library in partnership with the Chinook Country Historical Society is presenting Karen Mahoney of the British Home Children Advocacy and Research Association and Sandra Joyce, author of Belonging and The Street Arab on Saturday October 18 at 1:00 in the John Dutton Theatre at the Central Library. They will be talking about the over 118,000 British Home Children sent to Canada between 1869 and 1939. These children were often sent to work as indentured farm labourers and domestics. Many of us are descended from these young immigrants and their contributions to Canada are an important part of our history. Join us on Saturday. There is no registration required for this program.
