Hello,

I am searching for relatives of mine who are
Sierra-Leonian and were living
in Freetown in 1987, in particular I am looking for my
aunt Annie Maude
Lewis.

I have written to the national archivist but have
received no response, does
anyone have any suggestions as to how I can go about
trying to locate family
members in the country? I am due to travel over there
in November so would
ideally like to make some connections before I leave.

Thanks so much,

Zoe

Re-post.

At this moment we are 22 members to the
AFR-SIERRA-LEONE list.

Please everyone give your comments towards Zoe's
quest. We're fast coming upon the month of November
2007.

"Thank you" Diana for showing Zoe that genealogy isn't
all about the dead - no pun intended.

Yes, I am also finding out how sloooow action is taken
when I inquire about BMDs in certain countries in
Africa.

I am learning "oral history" takes precedence over
written records and I've learned how frustrating it
becomes as in my country Samoa "oral history" is
tradition.

Is there SKSs of the list living now in Sierra Leone
that can meet with her during her visit in November?

Please Zoe can you tell us where you'll be staying
while in Sierra Leone?

Thanks! everyone.
....

(PS - Sierra Leone was my very first African countries
because of the name. My great-granddad's name is Leone
pronounced "lay-ONG-ay" in Samoan and there is a
village he was named after and lived in.)
