I'm referring to saved entries that are corrected but remain in the data file history as a variation. When you have the "Quick Entry" feature turned on, all old "deleted" entries still come up as part of the list.
While I believe that the "bad" entry is probably in the history permanently, I wondered if there's a method of clearing old field data history [viewable in the drop down menu by clicking in any field].
I tested this by entering "test entry" in the burial place for my own entry. I deleted the entry, closed down, reopened and began entering "te" in the burial record field. The deleted place name "test entry" came up. That is an example of the data I would like to purge from my file.
I understand that the best way to avoid this kind of data is to be careful before accepting the spelling of a new entry or abbreviation.
