Dear Charlotte and Listers,
I'm looking for any information on Joseph Thomas FIELD, who came to
Alaska around 1881, was involved in various businesses and land schemes in
Juneau and Skagway, and died in Petersburg, AK on 17 Apr 1917.
Also looking for info on Joseph FIELD's in-laws: The HARRISON brothers,
Joseph Nicoll and Henry John. They came to Alaska around 1888 to
photograph the scenery, and for a time had a photography studio and dental
clinic in Juneau. I believe they left Alaska around 1900.
I know something about the BDM data on these folks, and I have lots of
stories about them. I also have many of the photographs the HARRISON
brothers took around Juneau and Skagway. What I'm mostly interested in is
if these folks show up in any local stories, histories, anecdotes,
anything! I know Joseph FIELD and the HARRISON's lost a LOT of money in
bad investments during the gold rush, and that at one time they owned a lot
of the Juneau and Skagway waterfronts (Joseph FIELD was still being sued
over land deals when he died), but I haven't come across their names in
any published history I've read.
Has anybody ever come across these folks?
Thanks,...Alex
