I have read about runaway-slave encampments in parts of Florida....found in a
book I have about Creek and Seminole indians. Those of us seeking Af. Am.
roots need to also consider the ties many may have had to Native tribes,
particilularly those in the deep South: Creek, Seminole, Choctaw and others;
sometimes these clans were a singular refuge. Native web sites provide some
interesting background--if not "hard" data--along this line.
