any adoptee that was born in ALABAMA, regardless of where adopted, can get
their Original Birth Certificate and any other papers that Al Fital Records
have on them, you get your birth mother name - also you need your non-id,
together you can put it together -- if you google BAMADOPT or ALABAMA
AWARE, you will get a registry and links to those that will help you get
your info and help you search, ususlly people from this list do not charge,
only for records - if you see one KDIP - write to her, she is the best.

|I would start with all the information you have about your grandmother's
brother. Was he born in Lauderdale County? Was he adopted in Lauderdale
County? Do you know his full name? Do you have his date of birth?
|
| I would suggest you follow whatever you have. It is necessary sometimes
to use your imagination. What was going on with the family at the time your
uncle may have been adopted? You will need to know his name and either
where he was born or where he was adopted. The year will help too, if you
have it.

| My father was adopted in Madison County. I used his adoptive name and
where he was adopted. His birthdate was estimated but I went with that. I
then checked online with the Madison County Records Center:
and found his name in a list of adoptions. Adoption
records are listed with Probate in AL. I then emailed them to the attention
of Rhonda Larkin, Archivist. I gave her his adoptive name and the number
assigned to him, that I found on the adoption list. I wrote a letter to
Madison County Records Center, 915 Monroe Street, Huntsville, AL 35801 to
Rhonda's attention and included a check for $5.00 payable to the Judge of
Probate. 2 weeks later, I received the original Adoption Decree!
|
| I have still have not found his birth parents since there was no birth
certificate with the file. Probate told me there never was a birth
certificate. Finding the link to family is very, very difficult but I am
still searching.
|
| See if they have records for Lauderdale County. I know the counties are
very close. If not, contact Vital Records in Montgomery and see if they
have them. Good luck to you. It's hard but worth it.

grandmothers brother was adopted?
| He was born in 1900 in Lauderdale County Alabama.
|
| Where should I start??
