Is anyone familiar with these families? I descend from Matthew H.
Gillepsie b. SC, d. Jefferson Co., AL ca 1837 through his son Hugh B.
Gillespie. Hugh's son David Gillespie was married on 12 Jan 1855 to
Mary Edwards, a daughter of John Edwards and Elizabeth Spradling (m.
in Jeff. Co. 2 Jun 1831). Elizabeth may be the son of William
Spradling, Sr. and John is by tradition, a son of Robert Edwards and
Elizabeth Crawford. All these people lived in the Morris area just
north of Birmingham and seemed to come from SC via GA. Thanks.
