While looking for some SPRUILL family info. online,
I ran across this site and thought some of you might
want to ck. it out.

At the top of the page is a very nice memorial to the
Confederate Dead near St. Louis, MO. Then there are
pix of stones, listed by state - ALABAMA being first.
Some of the SURnames pictured on stones listed for
AL are: Griffin, Hughs, McLendon, Lamar, (Leemon),
Wiley B. Jones, Parbim, Dixon, Grissom, Rains, Hall,
Bracken, Weatherford, Bardon, Sample, Spruill,
J.G. Wildman
It mentions that Confederate stones were pointed at the
top to differentiate them from Union ones. I'm not sure
if the number shown near the top of each stone is indexed
there on the site or not, I just didn't see it. Knowing
that info. might yield some more data for you.
