Subject: OFF TOPIC... Ham Operators Involved in Katrina Relief Efforts.
Sorry if this is off topic, but, I really think it a valuable service that can help our "cousins" in the ravaged areas.
As an Amateur Radio Operator,I have been tracking the activities of the ham community in order to see how they are helping with the Katrina relief efforts.
This is some information I have come across on the Internet that can be of help to all of those looking for loved ones who were in the Hurricane.
"WELL THEY HELPED TRACK FAMILIES DURING 9-11.
AND NOW THEY HOPE TO TRACK FAMILIES AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA.
TWO LOCAL HAM RADIO OPERATORS ARE PART OF AN ORGANIZATION CALLED SKYWARN AND REPORT WEATHER CONDITIONS TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
RIGHT NOW THEY'RE USING THEIR RADIOS TO HELP HURRICANE VICTIMS FIND LOVED ONES.
IF YOU NEED HELP SEARCHING FOR A FAMILY MEMBER, THE HAM OPERATORS ASK THAT YOU E-MAIL THE NAME, ADDRESS, AND AREA FAMILY MEMBER WERE LAST SEEN.
THAT E-MAIL ADDRESS IS .
THEY ALSO ADVISE YOU TO CALL THE SALVATION ARMY FOR HELP AT 1-847-709-6700.
OR LOG ONTO THE WEB SITE AT WWW.SATERN.ORG. "
Please pass this message on.
God Bless all survivors!!
Glenna Davidson KM5TQ.......proud to be a part of the ham radio community!!
