Good luck on using your metal detector but I am afraid you may have some
disappointment ahead. First, any State or National Park will not allow you
taking away any artifacts. They belong to the State or greedy government . You
might want to try around the schools where the kids gather during recess or
lunch. They seem to drop money there lol. As far as indian (Native American)
stuff your detector will not find arrowheads . We have a belief among us that
if you find a arrow point or pottery it was left there as a gift for you but
if you dig for it then it is like taking something not meant for you. There is
not a lot of Civil War things around Alabama other than Mobile and Selma. A
small battle was made near Guntersville I beleive. The State and the US
Government today if you find anything that might lead to an indian village or
burial site will ome and take over the site. Sadly I have seen Walmart however
discover graves on their new site and they seem to keep on building In your
area there was a papermill built within the last 10 years and sadly it too was
over a burial site. Money talks these days.
