Ray,

I have never known exactly where in Alabama my William Crawford Smith might
have stopped over. What I have on William Crawford Smith is that he was born
in September 1834 and married about 1860 Lucy Mayo. My great-grandfather,
John Abner Smith was born 14 Sep 1865 -- I have always thought he was born in
Kemper Co., MS; but I am not sure. John Abner died in Kemper Co 7 Sep 1918;
but he lived in Lauderdale Co., MS at the time of his death.

I do have a note that William Crawford Smith and Lucy Mayo had a son named
Field -- no dates. Such a strange given name indicates there might be a
Fields connection; but he could be named for either someone prominent or a
neighbor.

We have previously discussed the Christmas connection. Ironically, my
gg-grandmother Christmas' brother married into a Parker line in Williamsburg,
SC. Addiditionally my Baker/Christmas lines tie into the Simmons and Fields
lines in Sumter Co., SC.
