As we celebrate Thanksgiving 1999, let us remember some of the reasons we are
thankful. Let us not forget the most influential person in our lifes... God,
for without Him we would be nothing.

May each of you have a wonderful holiday, surrounded by your friends and
loved ones.

Thanks to each of you for helping make the Butler County web site an
outstanding site.

So Blessed Am I

In the quiet hours of the night when all the world sleeps
I often take time to ponder on God's blessings in my life:

I thank Him for both my eyes, though glasses are required,
I could be like the blind man who sees only the darkness;
So blessed am I that I can see the flowers in the springtime,
and leaves of orange and gold and brown in the autumn.

I thank Him for my ears, though sometimes they ache,
I could wear hearing aids, or not hear anything at all;
So blessed am I that I can hear the song birds the chirp,
And can enjoy the beauty of voices singing in harmony.

I thank Him for my hands and arms, though filled with pain,
They could be twisted, crippled or withered by accident;
So blessed am I for I can express on paper with pen in hand
The thoughts God has given me in the form of my poetry.

I thank Him for my feet and legs, though often I limp,
I could be paralyzed, or it could be I had no legs at all;
So blessed am I that I can wander down a country trail
To see all the wonderful creatures that share our world.

I thank Him for my health, though many days I am sick,
Yet I could bed stricken or filled with a terminal illness;
So blessed am I because I am able to help someone else,
For there are those who will never be as blessed as I.

I thank Him for my education, though it could be better,
I could be like so many that can not read or write a word;
So blessed am I that I can study my Bible before bed time,
For many will never know the meaning of written words.

I could go on and on, for my list of blessings is endless,
And I am fortunate because I have one truly special one;
So blessed am I. . .
For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
In Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
