Cynthia and other Sims researchers,
Sometimes I don't know which is worse for a genealogist, to find too few
records or to find too many. I have few families that left more records than
the Sims, and I think none with so much inconsistency in the research
conclusions. I do believe that this family can be cleared up considerably,
but it will require erasing some information and "killing" some people that
probably never really existed anyway. That's a pretty hard thing for us
genealogists to do. One of these days I am going to write a book about all
of my "relatives" that were created by a false or sloppy entry in a court
record or census.
I would like to work with anyone "capable of killing" to come up with a more
reliable, but no doubt smaller genealogy for the Sims. We can do it in this
forum or go private. Mildred, do you think we should go private to avoid
boring the non-Sims researchers? This could go on for awhile.
Cynthia, you started this thing with your list of questions. I have no
interest in taking you out of the driver's seat. I just want to ask that we
focus on one Sims at a time and really determine what we collectively know
about him that is supported by documents.
I propose we start with Stephen Sims, Sr.
Does anyone want to do this?
Duke Vickrey
