The Confederate Hospital in Greenville was located on the
South-East corner of old Highway 31 and state highway 10
intersection. We, in G'ville know the area as Commerce and
College St. The plaque has inscribed; SITE OF THE
CONFEDERATE HOSPITAL 1861-1865. Marked 1914
by Father Ryan Chapter U.D.C. I have always heard the
HERBERT HOME on Herbert Street served as a hospital
during the Civil war manned by, I guess, one of my distant
kinfolk, Dr. Curtis Burke Herbert, b. 1825 and married to
Catherine Lewis. They were parents of Dr. C.B. Herbert
who married Jessie Coleman. I could not find a file at the
Historical room. Bernard
